In February we rested on this bridge as we patrolled the jungle at Cambodia Wildlife Sanctuary – yesterday we found the bridge plus another burned down. Why? – because the poachers were unhappy that we destroyed their animal traps at a watering hole. Having hunted the animals to near extinction outside the sanctuary they now seek to hunt inside.
We will continue to protect the animals, and hopefully the rangers can locate these people who see burning down the jungle as a solution.
The bridges will not cause a problem for now, but when the wet season comes it will he much harder to visit all areas of the sanctuary until we rebuild.
