What a day! Spectacular mountain riding, multiple steep ascents and decent that I have never done before.
Constantly distracted by the scenery, it was hard to keep my eyes on the dangerous roads. The roads were perfect, just to be accurate, but oncoming traffic on hairpin corners were the danger. Sometimes roadwork or stray backpackers on the wrong side kept things interesting.
If you can’t ride don’t! Could easily have killed a couple of backpackers on the wrong side of the road, assuming they didn’t fall off the cliff avoiding me. I was too busy navigating the next corner to be certain!
Yet again the mountain roads just provided one amazing view after another. It is mind numbing trying to take it all in. This country is a paradise, and all the better for how hard it is to navigate if you are not on a bike. Keeps the tourism to manageable levels. But get here soon before that changes!
Love this country! It is such a cliche to say SEA is cheap, but Laos has prices that embarrass Cambodia. Prices set at what they should be and need to be, not just focused on ripping visitors for everything you can – here’s looking at you Cambodia and Thailand.
Tonight I stay at Spring River Resort near Kong Lor cave. This id s piece of paradise all of its own. Possibility the nicest place I have ever stayed. Base for the famous cave tomorrow.

Tell you about the caves tomorrow! Adventurer!
