The shortest trip so far and yet again the bar is raised on how spectacular this area of Laos is.
I can highly recommend Spring River Resort to stay. Accommodation, attention to detail, wifi, power points, food and beer – all superbly arranged.
They also arranged my water taxi to Kong Lor cave, an absolute must see in Laos. If you do little in life, visit here!!
Water taxi to the cave, entry ticket which for me also included a private boat, all so easy and cheap. If this place existed elsewhere you would pay a fortune and be surrounded by a thousand other tourists. I saw one boat near me, and a few more n the return journey.
Backpackers can even load their bike in the boat, and ride back to the Thekhet loop when through the cave. They seem surprised when the bikes get scraped and dinged on the trip!

I can not do justice to the boat ride through the cave (about 45mins). At times pitch black, others lit up so you can walk through the central caverns.
We even got stuck. A french guy, myself and two Laos boatmen pulling the boats up through some shallow rapids. No video as it was too dark – I did try! Imagine how the boats with motos onboard were to cope. I watched one bike unloaded into the river 🤣
I will add some footage of the motos being unloaded when my cam footage is sorted!
Until then here is a brief video and photos of the day. Sorry the GPS thinks I went OVER the mountain LOL. Can’t recommend this location enough. Adventurer!

Your trip looks amazing so far! I’m not so sure about pitch black tunnels right enough… x

You could fit a 3 storey building in there at any point, 5 storey in placed, so nothing feels claustrophobic! Less scary than flying 😉
