Day 8 afternoon was a chance to visit Pak Ou cave. Again about 45mins out of Luang Prabang but northbound along road 13.

This was a small forewarning of what that road would hold in the future!

Tricky by motorbike to find the final turn off to park and take the boat across the river to the cave.

Parking was easy as was the ticket process. waited about 6mins for a boat load then we set off. It is only 10mins across so an excuse for some good photos.

Cave views

The cave is still a working temple, so suitable attire and respect is required (but not always given by tourists).

The cave holds an amazing collection of Buddha statues to see at the lower level, and a prayer area which is usually in use.

I didn’t venture up to the higher level cave having been told it is not of huge interest and I was keen for some rest back at Luang Prabang!

The boat back was simple enough, and resulted in an opportunity for lunch at the departure ‘beach’.

Definitely worth a visit here. It is also available as a boat ride from LP, if you have the time and money.
