Day 9 was a gentle enough ride from Luang Prabang to Nong Khiaw. About 3 hours with no major difficulties.

At times the road runs alongside a river, created as a result of a hydro dam which you also pass.

Nong Khiaw is worth every effort it takes to reach it! It is just a picture postcard setting. The river runs through the town which is otherwise surrounded by high mountains on all sides. Photos just cannot do it justice.

I stayed at Maison De Nongkhiaw, which was an absolute gem of a place. My only regret was not booking there longer. Probably the best accommodation the town offers. Being 10mins out of town they run a shuttle to pick people up and run into town.

The views and rooms were 5 star quality, and even has a pool beneath the mountain views.

I took advantage of the shuttle for evening drinks and food in town. It stays quiet and relaxed in the evenings which is fitting for the location.

The hotel organised a boat trip for me the next day to Muang Ngoi.
